Disney Channel's popular Boy Meets World spinoff, "Girl Meets World," a popular TV show and spinoff series from "Boy Meets World" by Disney Channel has been confirmed to be canceled just after three seasons.

On Wednesday night, the sad news was revealed by the show's writers' room Twitter account. However, this was no surprise for "Girl Meets World" fans as actors Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel who are the show's returning favorites expressed their farewell with the cast on social media, according to E! Online.

"Girl Meets World" centered on Cory and Topanga's tween daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend, Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), as they explore the ups and downs of growing up. Other cast members also include August Maturo, Peyton Meyer and Corey Fogelmanis.

"It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over," the writers' account tweeted in a series of posts. "I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes. We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn't be more proud of. As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty - We gave you our best."

After over 70 episodes upon its pilot episode, the "Girl Meets World" finale episode will air Jan. 20. The episode will have a fitting title, "Girl Meets Goodbye" which will follow the Matthews family in contemplating a life-changing decision that will provide a great conclusion to the show, as reported by Coming Soon.

But there will be no reason to sad as Disney Channel announced that "Girl Meets World" repeats will remain on Disney Channel's digital platform and VOD. The series earned two Emmy nominations for outstanding children's program in its three-season run.
