The Game of Thrones was once again snubbed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's (HFPA) annual Golden Globe awards. Six seasons and running, the show has received audience and critical acclaim. Still, the Golden Globe was simply 'impenetrable' and the show once again suffered an epic fail during the awards night.

Since it started GOT has won 38 Emmy Awards including Best Drama Series, making it the one scripted show that nagged the most awards in Emmys history per the Los Angeles Times. But HFPA simply didn't take fancy at the Dragons, John Snow, and even the well-orchestrated love scenes.

Out of the six overall Golden Globe nominations, Game of Thrones managed to snag just one win: Best Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage back in 2012. Not a single nomination was earned from the awards show in two consecutive years back in 2013 and 2014.

This year, GOT managed to get in two categories namely the Best Drama Series and Best Supporting Actress for Lena Headey. Olivia Coleman already took the Supporting Actress trophy so the show has one chance left.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association Defined

But what exactly is the Hollywood Foreign Press Association? Well, they're simply responsible for founding the Golden Globe awards whose members make up the voting body who determines who wins and who loses. Right now the organization is made of less than a hundred foreign journalists.

Membership never goes beyond a hundred people in total. This goes to show that the award giving body is overseen by a very small number of individuals. By comparison, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have almost 7,000 members. These members cast votes on the Oscar winners year after year per Vox. Some say the HFPA's small number is one of the biggest factors why the Golden Globes is extremely unpredictable.

Well, no one can do anything about that. But as long as the viewers love the show, they will remain on air, Golden Globe winner or not. For more Game of Thrones and Golden Globes news update, keep it here on MStars News. Hit us with your feedback in the comments below.
