In a speculation made by Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei, Nintendo Switch price could be lower than $250 in Japan.

According to Geeky Gadgets, Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei predicts that the Nintendo Switch will sell for ¥25,000 in Japan, equivalent to $250 at today's current exchange rate. They also predicted the Nintendo DSi launch earlier.

This is a very attractive price for the Switch, but the fans are worried about the power and quality of the Switch's components. Sony's PlayStation 4 cost about $400 at its launch and now currently sells for $300. Microsoft's Xbox One on the other hand cost about $500 when it was launched but now sells for around $280.

But will this price be accurate? Whenever Nintendo released teasers of any product, Nikkei has always done the same thing. It has always reported any key point a little before the official unveiling of the product. The predicted low price should lead to solid sales figures for the Nintendo Switch.

It is also worth to note that Nikkei only made a prediction on the Japanese launch price, and the US cost is not always suggestive of the current exchange rate. When the Wii U was launched, it cost around ¥26000 in Japan but jumped up to $300 for its North American release, as reported by Escapist Magazine.

While Japanese gaming enthusiasts are definitely excited, this however, may not be the final price point. While Nikkei has predicted prices successfully in the past, exchange rates may shift. Nikkei also emphasized that this is simply an average figure consumers should plan around and not an exact prediction taken from a source familiar with the matter.

But don't worry! This Friday, January 13, Nintendo should announce more information on the Switch console. Who knows? Maybe they'll be announcing its official launch date and retail price, so stay tuned!
