English singer-songwriter, Peter Starstedt had passed away at the age of 75. He was best known for his 1969 number one hit song "Where Do You Go to (My Lovely)". This saddened not only his family and friends, but the music industry as well.

The song had been number one in many countries and it also won him an Ivor Novello award. The song is about a poor girl who becomes a member of the European jet-set. According to The Telegraph, the song was written in 1966 for a girl he'd met and whom he had fallen in love with. Everything was perfect but a tragedy happened on the summer of 1965 in a hotel fire and that took him for a year to recover.

He died after a six-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, his family stated. He was a Delhi-born singer who had been battling his long-term illness for six years. According to the report of BBC, his family were "with him to the last" and that his songs and music would be missed by many.

Over his 50-year career, he already created 14 albums and released his last, Restless Heart in 2013. He released at least two singles a year between 1967 and 1987, including Beirut, Take Off Your Clothes and I'm a Cathedral.

Sarstedt was born in Delhi, India. His parents were classical musicians together with his brothers, his older sibling, Richard Sarstedt under the stage name Eden Kane and his younger brother Robin Sarstedt under the name of Clive. Both enjoyed the success of being pop stars.

Later in 2000's, his music was again been given attention when Where Do You Go To My Lovely was used in the Wes Anderson films Hotel Chevalier and The Darjeeling Limited.

Sarstedt's illness led him to officially retire in 2010, according to a report.
