"La La Land" dances its way to the BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) after the successful turn out at the Golden Globes leading all nominees for contention.

The musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is nominated in 11 categories including Best Film. The film took home seven wins out of eight nominations in the recent Golden Globes - a record for most wins in one night. "Arrival" and "Nocturnal Animals" are tied in second with nine nominations while "Manchester by the Sea" earned six, its lead Casey Affleck also got a nod for the Best Actor category, Yahoo! News reported.

Sci-fi neo-noir thriller "Nocturnal Animals" was probably the surprise top-tier among the nominees. Shocked at the Golden Globes win, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has earned another nomination for his work on the film.

On the Best Actress category, Emily Blunt, Natalie Portman, Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Emma Stone all have some solid cases to be made if they take the win.

Speaking of Streep, the Oscar-winner actress recently received an unsavory review for her acting skills courtesy of Donald Trump. Trump said that Streep is one of the most "overrated" actresses of all time after Streep addressed distaste for Trump's well-publicized mockery of a reporter Serge F. Kovaleski who has a disability, The Washington Post reported.

"It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power, and the capacity to fight back. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it. I still can't get it out of my head because it wasn't in a movie. It was real life," she said.

This is the 15th time that Streep has been nominated for BAFTA which she won in 1982 and 2012 for "The Iron Lady" and "The French Lieutenant's Woman."
