Even before Ezra Miller gets the chance to don his scarlet lightning suit to fight villains in DC's The Flash solo movie, the studio needs to find a director that can deliver the fun , witty and action centered film that they want.

Unfortunately, even  before  production begins to take off, two directors have already bid adieu to the franchise. Early last year, it was Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter's Seth Grahame Smith  that left the movie and recently, just as pre production was under way, Dope director Rich Famuyiwa left the franchise after it was learned that the director wanted to proceed with an edgier take on the movie.

A report by CinemaBlend shared some suggestions on possible directors who can pick up directorial duties and it includes Will Ferrell collaborator Adam McKay, former Daredevil showrunner Drew Goddard, Me, Earl and the Dying Girl director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, Punisher War Zone director Lexi Alexander, Zombieland director  Ruben Fleisher, Fast 8 director F. Gary Gary and Scott Pilgrim vs the Universe director Edgard Wright.

McKay was cited for his role in re-writing the Ant Man movie with Paul Rudd to create a character that had an equal balance of humor and heart. The same could be said for Me, Earl and the Dying Girl director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon who was able to deliver a touching yet heartwarming cinema experience with his small movie.

Goddard and Alexander both are both familiar with the DC universe, having helmed the Daredevil and Punisher franchises, both to positive responses for being faithful to the original materials.

Zombieland director Ruben Fleisher and Scott Pilgrim vs the Universe director Edgard Wright are both known for coming up with movies that become pop culture favorites while F. Gary Gary is an expert when it comes to speed and action. A drawback for his hiring however, would be the schedule as the promotion of Fast 8 will coincide with production of The Flash which has its heart set on a March 2018 playdate.

The Movie Pilot meanwhile suggested that Deadpool director Tim Miller should be tapped for the project since the director already left the sequel due to creative differences. The director was able to portray a likeable character despite his flaws to come up with a fast paced, action packed and hilarious movie that met blockbuster expectations.

JJ Abrams and Mission Impossible:Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie were also pitched to the helm the Flash movie because of their creative takes on action and sci fi genres.

Kevin Smith, who recently directed one of the Flash television series' best episodes was also floated as a possible name to helm the standalone movie because of his deep understanding of the character and his ability to deliver great movies from great scripts.

Project Almanac and Power Rangers reboot director Dean Israelite, was also among  potential winners for the job because of his unique visual style that draws the interest of the younger market.
