"Mass Effect Andromeda" screenshots have just been made available following James Gunn's praise of the game. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" director posted a tweet on Jan. 9 that he was a fan of "Mass Effect". He also revealed that the game was, in fact, an inspiration for the intergalactic Marvel film.

The director posted another tweet saying that he was excited to play "Andromeda", after having finished the three games in the original "Mass Effect" series. A "Mass Effect Andromeda" trailer released on N7 Day revealed a new storyline in an open world setting.

Aaryn Flynn, BioWare's studio general manager and vice president, posted a screenshot on Twitter. He said it was a thank you to Gunn's praises of the game and the director's excitement to play "Andromeda".

"Mass Effect Andromeda" screenshots reveal new characters and crew

According to Den of Geek, the story takes place six centuries after "Mass Effect 3". It will introduce a 600-year voyage into the Andromeda galaxy. There are four arks and each group is led by a Pathfinder. This person is competent in military tactics and science.

The main hero is Ryder, a Pathfinder. Their mission is an important one: to find a new home for humanity. It's a very vital one considering the only humans left are the ones in the four arks.

A new trailer also reveals new characters and a new villain. Game Spot reports that the Andromeda Initiative on the "Mass Effect" website also just released the new vehicles that will be replacing Normandy from the original trilogy.

The ship is called Tempest, which is fast but not well-armored. The other vehicle is the car, Nomad, which will be used for exploring planets along the way.

"Mass Effect" has gained enormous popularity since its introduction to the gaming scene in 2007. There are even talks of adapting it to the silver screen by 2018 or 2019. "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2" director, James Gunn, though, said that many film adaptations of video games were done poorly.

BioWare, the game's developer, revealed that "Andromeda" will be released on March 21 for Xbox One, PC, and PS4. Players can choose to play either a male or female Ryder. Both characters act as brother and sister in the game's universe.
