The 33-year-old "The Amazing Spider-Man" actor said that he was proud of Stone's success in the entertainment industry. The 28-year-old "Easy A" actress won Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for her role in "La La Land", as per a Us Weekly report.

Garfield had once said in an interview, "There's so much love between us and so much respect." Then, during the 2017 Golden Globes awards ceremony, Garfield himself was nominated Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture for his lead role in "Hacksaw Ridge".

Garfield said that Stone was an inspiration to him as an artist. In fact, he gave Stone a standing ovation when she won her award, which many fans noted on Twitter.

Both artists have told several magazines that, even though they were no longer dating, they still loved and respected each other. Garfield once said that, if he were to be stuck on an island, he would choose Stone as his companion.

Emma Stone herself has told entertainment publications that she still loved her ex-boyfriend very much. They had a great time together and they continue to be friends to this day.

Andrew Garfield Emma Stone relationship timeline

The Telegraph noted the closeness of the ex-couple, particularly their support for each other during the Golden Globes event. Fans will remember that the two met on the set of "The Amazing Spider-Man" in 2010.

Andrew Garfield played the main protagonist, Peter Parker. Emma Stone played Gwen Stacy, his love interest. They both had their own partners at that time, but then they officially got together in late 2011 after a few months of being single.

They appeared in public together and dated for several years. However, in 2015 rumors spread that they were taking a break from each other. Neither Garfield nor Stone talked about it to the media. The rumors continued to spread in 2016. The two were still seen together, but not frequently. Then, in a December 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, the "Zombieland" actress said that she was single.

That seemed to be the ultimate confirmation that the two have indeed broken up. She didn't specify when she and Garfield parted ways, though. Fans are still hoping for them to get back together, although it seems like the two are already happy as just friends.
