FOX's horror comedy "Scream Queens" finished its Season 2 last year, but will it be renewed for a next run? Executives told the press that they were happy with the TV series. However, the show's fate hasn't been confirmed yet.

"Scream Queens" Season 2 twist reveals Denise's return

In Season 2, Wes Gardner (Oliver Hudson) meets a gruesome end at his own hands. This was after he realized he no longer had any allies in the Green Meanie team. Fortunately, one of his victims, Denise Hemphill, survived his murder attempt.

Played by Niecy Nash, Denise comes back to end the murders and disable the bomb. Many fans took to social media to express their surprise and delight at Denise's return. The show has suffered low ratings, but this twist might just kick things into high gear.

"Scream Queens" has an average of 1 million viewers every week, according to Bustle. That pales in comparison to the network's "The Walking Dead", which gets 10 million viewers a week. But the college-set horror comedy targets a different demographic. The show has found more success with the younger audience.

"Scream Queens" Season 3 cancelled rumors are not true

Variety reports that the show is still being considered for renewal, according to FOX Channel's David Madden. It has not been officially cancelled, as many have feared. He said that the producers will not just be focusing on the ratings, since the target audience is a much younger demographic.

"The ratings don't tell the whole story," he said during the Television Critics Association press conference. Other executives also said that there were other TV shows whose fates were still undecided. "Pitch" and "The Exorcist" also have some fans, but their ratings aren't so high.

The Ryan Murphy-produced show has a powerful cast of well-known actors like Jamie Lee Curtis (the original Scream Queen), John Stamos, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Diego Boneta, Taylor Lautner, and more. The show also had guest stars like Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas.

It knows its target audience, but its fate will be decided sometime in May 2017. Because of the show's uncertain future, fans have started online petitions to show their support for the TV show.
