Reports confirm that two 12-year-old girls from Paterson, NJ were recently suspended after a shocking "hit list" video went viral on the web. In the twisted, 20-minute long YouTube clip (which has since been deleted), the students threaten to stab and murder several of their seventh grade classmates (and some reports even say teachers). The two young girls may now face criminal charges.

The disturbing video surfaced online on Wednesday (April 24) - it was promptly taken down on Thursday. During the "hit list" discussion, one of the girls laughingly ponders, 'Wouldn't you guys think I'd be the best assassin ever... [I'd] stab him continuously in this area." While one student holds the camera, the other discusses how they'd like to kill several specific classmates in their school. The unidentified students are laughing throughout most of the clip.

After the video went viral, Paterson Mayor Jeffery Jones told NorthJersey.com that although he doesn't believe the threats were serious, 'It's serious enough for us to have this investigated, especially because of the current climate we're in... Let's hope that it was just frustrations and emotions and they didn't mean anything, but we can't sit back and just hope."

The two girls were suspended from School 27 in the NJ city.

Several students, teachers, and parents were very disturbed by the footage. According to NorthJersey.com, some parents visited police headquarters on Wednesday evening to file terroristic threat charges against the girls involved. Many of their children came home in frightful tears. But apparently authorities didn't act until the video went viral on the web.

School district spokeswoman Terry Corallo confirms that school authorities were notified about the video on Wednesday. "As the safety of our students and staff is our utmost concern, we immediately took action and removed these students from the school environment,' she said in a statement. "We have been communicating with the parents who had children in the same class as these two students. We have assured these parents that we have taken this issue very seriously and are taking the necessary steps to address this issue."

A police investigation is currently ongoing - some parents say that the two girls are now receiving medical evaluations, although police have not confirmed this.
