‘Descendants of the Sun 2’ Update: Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo As Married Couple Not True

"Descendents of the Sun" hit the South Korean airwaves in February 2016 on KBS2. The action romance featured the main love story between Captain Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki) and Doctor Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-kyo). Because of the Asian-wide success of the series, fans are expecting to see "Descendants of the Sun 2".

Producers think Season 2 is too difficult

Soompi originally reported last year that a second season was being considered. The head of the KBS drama department, Jung Sung Ho, said that the studio wanted to thank the viewers. He clarified that "Descendants of the Sun 2" would be their way to give back to the loyal fans that supported the show from beginning to end.

He also said that the network was planning a "Descendants of the Sun" 2017 project. He didn't elaborate on this project, but he did clarify that it would not exactly be the second season of "Descendants of the Sun".

One of the writers, Kim Eun Sook, thought that following the story of Yoo Si-jin and Kang Mo-yeon was too difficult.
