'Outlander' Season 3 Stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan Set To Film Around Dunure Castle

By the end of January, the cast and crew of "Outlander" are expected to descend on Dunure. They're going to film around the castle for the series' third season. Fans can't wait to find out what's in store for the epic love birds.

Good To Be Back

Last year the same location was already used and transformed Kennedy Park into the set of the massive hit show. Councillor Bill Grant for the council's tourism said that he's delighted that the Network chose Dunure. The rugged coastline and the backdrop featuring the castle is simply fabulous. They are delighted South Ayrshire was chosen for the filming. They also provided a fantastic choice of accommodations and eateries for the cast.

Gloomy Holidays

Diana Gabaldon, the "Outlander" author also revealed that the production team sacrificed their holiday vacation just to hasten filming. The break was cut from the supposed six weeks to just two weeks. When the Scottish stint is over, they are expected to proceed to South Africa this coming May to finish shooting. The upcoming season kicks off with the Battle of Culloden in Scotland for Sam Heughan's character as Jamie. There will also be a flashback for Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in Boston, Scottish Sun reported.

Meanwhile, "Outlander" couple Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe seemed to have not aged one bit. This, even if their characters are meant to have aged by 20 years in the upcoming series. They looked gorgeous and dashing when they got back into character, fully made up in their costumes in the Scottish capital on Tuesday with Heughan in black tricorne and an 18th century attire beneath his modern black coat. Caitriona on the other hand was spotted wearing a long grey skirt and a full length grey coat. Fans will recall that Caitriona had gone back to the 20th century carrying Jamie's child Brianna (Sophie Skelton). They were forced to do this to ensure the child's safety, Mail Online reported.
