While the launch of the Redmi Note 4 is just around the corner and set for Jan. 19 in India, the specification and features of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 have already leaked out online.

It is reported that the Redmi Note 5 has been certified by the United States Federal Communication Commission (FCC), with the leaked filing revealing some crucial information on the upcoming smartphone. Although, it is still not clear what fans should expect, the leak also gave a glimpse as to the expected cost and the official debut date - before the end of Jan.

The FCC certificate reveals that the Redmi Note 5 is expected to be priced at Rs. 12,999 for the 64GB variant and Rs. 10,999 for the 32GB variant, according BGR.

Furthermore, the leaked filling also reveals that the smartphone could feature a 5.5 inches full-HD display with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4, a 2.1GHz MediaTek Helio x25 deca-core SoC  or a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core SoC and a 4GB RAM.

It could also feature 32GB and 64GB onboard storage variants and a microSD slot of up to 128GB. The device is expected to have a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.

Redmi Note 5 will have a 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support and connectivity options such as VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11n, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer is expected, Techradar reported.

The device will run on Android 7.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9 and although there are no leaked photos yet, the different shades in which the phone will be available are Gold, Silver, and Black. Judging by history, India is likely to get the Snapdragon variant, whereas the MediaTek variant could be sold in China and other Asian countries.

What is amazing is that the Redmi Note 4X could have a better Qualcomm Snapdragon than the Redmi Note 5 if the information from the FCC leak is to be considered. If this happens, it means the Redmi Note 4X would beat it successor. However, these are just mere speculations and expectations as Xiaomi is yet to confirm the update. The Redmi Note 5 cost could start from $191.
