BlackBerry Mercury is set for a wide launch this year

The phone industry is filled to the brim with smart phones and it seems that every version constantly needs an upgrade. BlackBerry has been left in the dust for most part, but in 2017, the company will be releasing its DTEK70 phone. According to Trusted Reviews, the BlackBerry Mercury isn't manufactured by BlackBerry per se. It will be produced by the TCL company, but it is designed by BlackBerry.

At the CES 2017, the company gave the BlackBerry DTEK70 a soft launch. Not many got to see what the fuss was about, but TCL President Steve Cistulli posted about it on Twitter. Pocket-lint reported that the new BlackBerry smart phone running on Android OS will be sporting a physical keyboard.

The new BlackBerry phone will reportedly have a 3:2 ratio display instead of the usual 16:9. It will have a 4.5 inch screen with full HD display. It has a USB-C port and the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. It is rumored to have either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 or a Snapdragon 821.

It boasts a pretty impressive 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. Its 3,400 mAh battery will also wow some users. It has a front-facing camera and an 18-megapixel rear one. Users will be surprised to know that DTEK70 will be a bit like the Silver Edition BlackBerry Passport. Another surprising thing with the new phone is that its space bar also serves as a home button and fingerprint scanner.

The DTEK70 is also rumored to come in grey, silver, green, and red. The power button is on the top left corner. The phone's design is sleek and the buttons are easy to use. Although the phone was previewed in Las Vegas during the CES 2017, the BlackBerry Mercury is rumored to have a proper launching during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
