Kim Go Eun Emotional Over End Of 'Goblin' Series With Gong Yoo

Kim Go Eun got emotional as the hit series "Goblin" she starred with Gong Yoo finally comes to an end. On January 25, the actress posted a handwritten letter lamenting her journey throughout the show. Eun Tak, as her character is known in the series thanked her fans for supporting them all this time.

Kim Go Eun knows viewers loved not only the drama but the characters as well. She promised to treasure that love and will definitely come back better and brighter the next time around. She said she couldn't believe the production has finally come to an end. It's like if she blew out a candle, the Goblin will just pop right in front of her. She was very happy to get to know Eun Tak in this drama and thankful for the winter. She's certain Eun Tak is happy living with Goblin after reuniting with him in her second life per soompi.

The Secret Behind "Goblin's" Success

For those who aren't familiar with the story, "Goblin" is a romantic comedy about a goblin cursed to live forever. Culture critic Jung Duk-hyun said that the popularity of the dokkaebi character- "Guardian" made a record-breaking viewership since it was launched on cable last December 2. It scored a 12.7 percent per Nielsen Korea. This could be credited to female fan's yearning for powerful male figures who have the ability to solve problems of women's highly stressful lives per The Jakarta Post.

Choi Ji-sun, a lawyer who is also an avid fan of the show said the realistic idea is that a couple complement each other in a relationship. However, it's easy to escape into a world where somebody will come to your side at a drop of a hot, no questions asked, and provide everything you need. Of course, you would never expect that from your real life partner.

Finally, TV critic Hwang Jin-mi wrote in his column last month that the system of fantasy blocks guilt and lets viewers accept the romance between a minor and an older guy without being repulsed. Then again, the image of a young girl clinging to a wealthy older man, lingers. That's the magic Kim Go Eun and Gong Yoo give their viewers.
