‘The Big Bang Theory’ Actor Jim Parsons Thrilled About Sheldon Cooper Spin-Off

In the midst of cancellation rumor for the upcoming installment that "The Big Bang Theory" faces, Sheldon Cooper actor, Jim Parsons, shared his views about the possibility of "TBBT" spin-off to take place. The actor said that he is really excited to be involved in a spin-off series that will tell a story about a teenage version of Sheldon Cooper.

The creators of the Sheldon Cooper spin-off are the same with "TBBT", Chuck Lorre and Bill Brady, along with the showrunner Steve Molaro. Jim Parsons will also participate to work behind the scene as an executive producer. The spin-off will be built around Sheldon Cooper's childhood, set in Texas and might adopt the concept of "Malcolm In The Middle", a comedy series that aired in early 2000 about the genius, Malcolm, who has to deal with his dysfunctional family.

"I'm really excited about it, and I think it will be different from "Big Bang", but in a good way. It just seems like a really wasted opportunity if you don't decide to explore the origin story with that," said Jim Parsons about the anticipated spin-off. However, none of the current "TBBT" stars are expected to return in the spin-off.

CBS comedy hit series, "The Big Bang Theory", is currently in negotiations to extend the contract for two or three years more. The creators said if viewers want them to continue making the show, they won't refuse to keep producing the series. The show faces its first cancellation rumor reportedly due to salary arguments between John Galecki, Jim Parsons, and Kaley Cuoco against the show's producers. The three main actors demanded a pay rise, although they're already on $1,000,000 per episode salary, which was eventually declined by the showrunners.

The executive producer of "TBBT", Steve Molaro, admitted he hasn't figured out how the series would end. The producers and showrunners have talked about the possible way to end "TBBT" but they haven't really considered that since they can't stand the idea of ending the 10-year-comedy hits. "TBBT" is currently in the midst of season 10 and airs every Thursday at 8 PM ET.
