John Mayer has made it into the Billboard 200 Albums Chart once again. The 7-time Grammy Awards winner is back after a 3-year hiatus.

John Mayer's new EP (extended play), "The Search for Everything: Wave One" made it into the Billboard 200 Albums Chart for the eighth time, ranking at No. 2, Billboard reports. The EP was released on Friday, Jan. 20 through Columbia records and sold a total of 49,000 album units in the succeeding week ending on Jan. 26. 38,000 of the total sum were sold in old-fashioned album sales and the rest was through downloads as the EP was exclusively sold through digital retailers (i.e. Apple's iTunes).

This isn't the only time John Mayer was on the top 10 of the chart. His albums "Heavier Things", "Battle Studies", and "Born and Raised", all rose to No. 1 of the Billboard 200 Album Chart when they were released in 2003, 2009, and 2012, respectively. His albums "Continuum" and "Paradise Valley" ranked No. 2 in 2006 and 2013. "Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles" ranked No. 5 in 2008 while this first full-length album "Room for Squares" ranked No. 9 when it was released in 2001.

On the other hand, The Weeknd's "Starboy" is still on top of the Billboard 200 Album Chart for the fifth consecutive week according to Forbes. The No. 1 album has earned 56,000 units, where 36,000 were generated by online streams. Online streaming services continue to be the most popular choice among music lovers these days.

Meanwhile, "La La Land" soundtrack is at No. 3 selling 31,000 units. Bruno Mars' "24K Magic" sold 30,000 units which catapulted it to No. 4 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.

This was ranked by Billboard based on multi-metric consumption that includes album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The full, updated Billboard 200 Album Chart will be available on Tuesday, Jan.31 on Billboard's website.
