The first half of the seventh season of "The Walking Dead" wasn't exactly as exciting and awesome for the fans as the cast had hoped. The show's lead actor Andrew Lincoln though, explains everything that had happened so far in the series is for a reason.

Andrew Lincoln, the actor who plays as Rick Grimes in the series told Entertainment Weekly that filming the first half of the seventh season was "painful" for him. Recently, fans have been complaining about "The Walking Dead's" brutality, plus the death of [SPOILER ALERT] the show's beloved character Glenn and Abraham on the seventh season's first episode. However, Lincoln tells the fans to have faith to the show's producers and writers that is shaping the story.

Lincoln also explained that for the final episodes of the season to seem sensible, Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) introduction in the show must be as brutal as it could. After the seventh season's premiere, several fans of the "The Walking Dead" had said the series had become too violent and that they were not interested in watching the show anymore

"Rather than just have a very cool exciting buildup to war between Negan and Rick, he [show runner Scott M. Gimple] wanted people to want more than that - to really feel that they wanted justice, and then to also acknowledge the cost of what had happened and why they were willing to risk it all again while realizing that they were putting many, many, many lives back in the firing line," Andrew said.

Meanwhile, We Got This Covered has just learned that the next three for "The Walking Dead" will have an extended air time. The midseason premiere will be titled "Rock in the Road" will run for 73 minutes (1 hour and 13 minutes). The next two episodes will run for 66 minutes and 68 minutes, respectively.

"The Walking Dead" will return on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC, continuing the second half of the seventh season and promising more exhilarating actions to come.
