Colombia’s ‘Rock Titan’ Elkin Ramirez Dies At 54

Elkin Ramirez, the leader of Kraken, a Colombian metal band died in Medellin on Sunday, January 29, 2017. The Colombian singer and songwriter also named as Colombia's "Rock Titan," died at the age of 54.   

The news about the rocker's death was published by two Colombian newspapers El Tiempo and El Espectador. The fans of Ramirez expressed their grief on twitter for his death, among whom was one of his fans, Juanes who addressed a song called "Muere Libre" which means "Die Free" by the band Kraken, as per Article Wn.   

According to the reports by some of the newspapers, Ramirez who was considered as a legend in the Colombian rock list was rumored to replace the lead singer Freddie Mercury from the band, Queen.

The band Kraken was originated in the mid-1980s in Medellin, Colombia. It is considered as one of the most iconic rock bands in Colombia with a list of hits including "Lenguaje de mi Piel" and "Vestido de Cristal", reported Billboard.

Ramirez who was battling with cancer was treated in 2015 for a brain tumor and was again admitted at the end of 2016 in a hospital in Medellin, where he passed away. The band Kraken released their latest album last fall, which was named Kraken VI.    

Ramirez band mates expressed their sorrow by posting a post on Kraken's Facebook page which said that Ramirez spirit will always remain with each of them and that they will continue remembering him in all their projects and their lives.

The Colombian artist will also remain in the hearts of his fans, as they mourn over his death. Ramirez who suffered from a brain tumor will not be forgotten as his music has created an impact on the lives of his fans, who will continue to listen to his songs.

Ramirez contribution to the music industry has been highly appreciated by other artists across the world.
