"Justice League Dark" is another DC animated film. While DC might not fare as well in the cinematic verse against Marvel, it sure does better on TV with its live action and cartoon series and animated feature-length films like this one. In this movie, Batman ropes in several shady-looking superheroes to fight against an enemy that the original Justice League won't be able to handle.

The "Justice League Dark" story is set against a backdrop of horror elements, which means that the only ones capable of battling it are John Constantine, Zatanna, Jason Blood (or Etrigan), Swamp Thing, and Deadman. Although it's based on the comic books series of the same name, it only bares a slight resemblance to the story arcs. The characters and concepts are the same, though, reports IGN.

"Justice League Dark" cast of voice actors includes Nicholas Turturro as Deadman, Ray Chase as Jason Blood and Etrigan, Camilla Luddington as Zatanna, and Matt Ryan as John Constantine. Fans will also remember that Ryan also portrayed the iconic character in a live action series that was, unfortunately, cut short. Jason O'Mara is Batman. Even though The Bat did gather the team, it's John Constantine who shines in this horror-supernatural mission, as he should, since this is his territory.

Batman News rates the movie 7 out of 10 in its "Justice League Dark" review. According to the media outlet, the film has its moments, but some strange and confusing elements sometimes make for idle viewing. The characters are interesting and their interactions are the highlight of the film, especially with a snarky Constantine and a deadpan Batman who has no time for drama.

Director Jay Oliva packed a lot of punch into this film. It's gruesomely fun, earning itself an R-rating after the spine-chilling "The Killing Joke". The "Justice League Dark" movie was made available on Jan. 24 and it can now be watched on Blu-Ray and DVD.
