'The Vampire Diaries' Series Finale Spoiler: Elena Wakes Up From Slumber But With No Memory?

"The Vampire Diaries" Series Finale is shaping up to be as epic as it's title -- "I was Feeling Epic," and it promises to deliver on the return that fans of the show have been waiting for since Season 7. Elena Gilbert will most definitely be back, but it doesn't seem like she will remember why she is at Mystic Falls and why she was awake in the first place.

Based on the trailer for the series finale of "The Vampire Diaries", the 10 second clip shows Elena back at Mystic Falls High School looking over a trophy case but quite unsure what she was doing at the place where the series started. It can be recalled that at the end of Season 6, Elena was trapped in magical slumber which she cannot wake up from while Bonnie remains alive.

The mysteries just seem to keep piling up because in the last episode, the spoilers about Kai's return came true. It is still unsure if he will be working with Damon and Stefan or if he will go back to his wicked ways. The character already died in the show's sixth season and how he has escaped Hell is expected to be tackled in the upcoming episodes of "The Vampire Diaries," reported SpoilerTV. Early speculations hint that his return could have something to do with Elena as well. 

Before "The Vampire Diaries" Series Finale however, the show must dial back to Episode 14 entitled "Its Been A Hell of A Ride" in which the Brothers Salvatorre must join forces to take down Cade and save Elena's casket. Caroline and Alaric must also work together to deal with their twins' growing magical powers.

Aside from Elena, "The Vampire Diaries" Series Finale is expected to bring back fan favorite characters who were killed off in the course of the series' eight seasons on The CW. A tweet by Nina Dobrev showed Kayla Ewell who played Vicki Donovan and David Anders, who played John Gilbert back on set, reported MTV. She didn't confirm what role they would play in the show's swan song.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season Finale will air on March 10. Before that however, the show continues to air its remaining episodes every Friday at 8 pm on The CW.
