Katy Perry Devil Child: 'I Kissed a Girl' Crooner's Preacher Dad Calls her a 'Devil Child' in Sermons

Katy Perry's father recently called her a "devil child" in sermons, according to the U.K. publication The Sun.

Keith Perry (real name Keith Hudson), a preacher, has been touring churches in the United States with his wife Mary delivering sermons. The duo shows a video during the preaching sessions in which they portray their daughter as a "devil child" who needs "healing."

Perry's father recently spoke in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. and delivered the following tirade:

"They ask how can I preach if I produce a girl who sang about kissing another girl?" Perry said in reference to his daughter's hit song "I Kissed A Girl And I Liked It."

"I was at a concert of Katy's where there were 20,000. I'm watching this generation and they were going at it. It almost looked like church. I stood there and wept and kept on weeping and weeping. They're loving and worshipping the wrong thing."

The preacher also urges the congregations to "pray for Katy" and, of course, asks for donations so he and Mary can go to Switzerland. He asks for "not one or two dollars, but 20s." Perry's parents have already made plenty of money off their daughter's career, and it's likely her father uses his wife's maiden name, Perry, to further establish the connection to his daughter.

Katy Perry, 28, was actually a church singer before she became a pop star. She released her first album, a gospel rock record called Katy Hudson, in 2001 at age 17. At the time, she performed under a shortened version of her real name, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. She later took on the stage name Katy Perry (her mother's maiden name) because she thought "Katy Hudson" was too similar to actress Kate Hudson.
