Chris Kelly- of 90s hip-hop group Kriss Kross- died on Wednesday of an apparent overdose on heroin and cocaine. Now, TMZ is reporting that the "Jump" group's recent reunion concert is what kicked off a drug binge that may have led to the end of Kelly's life.

"Sources tell us, Mac Daddy -- real name Chris Kelly -- has been on and off drugs (including cocaine and heroin) for the last ten years, but had recently cleaned up his act," TMZ wrote.

However, that apparently changed after "Kris Kross' big comeback concert in Atlanta", an event that happened in February.

The gossip blog cites unnamed sources who claim that the 34-year-old rapper "started hanging out in clubs again, chumming up with big name Atlanta rappers" and that "drugs came back in full force as a result."

An official cause of death has yet to be determined, however, authorities are leaning toward drugs as the culprit.

"It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose," said Cpl. Kay Lester, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County police, in a piece by USA Today.

News of the death spread after Chris' mother, Donna Kelly Pratte released a statement to Us Weekly that read:

"It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1. To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris - the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him."

Jermaine Dupri, the man who discovered Kris Kross in an Atlanta mall and thorugh their initial success was able to create the So So Def empire, released the following statement:

"To the world chris was MacDaddy but to me, he was a son I never had, as much as you may think I taught him, he taught me, god has blessed me to be in the presence of so many naturally talented people, and chris was one. his understanding of what we set out to do, from day one was always on point. his passion for the music, his love for doing shows, his want to better than everyone else, was always turnt up. when I think about it I spent more time with chris than damn near anybody in my whole life, so you can imagine how bad this hurts. I will always love you chris, and I will never let the world forget you, may god bless your soul."
