With the dominance of Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fox's "X-Men" franchise, many fans have been hoping in their dreams a clash of their main teams on the big screen. Although the possibility of this is in the dark due to licenses, it did not stop Patrick Stewart, who plays Charles Xavier in the "X-Men" films, to answer the question in a simple yet confident manner.

In an interview with Comic Book, Stewart jokingly replied that he does not know who the "Avengers" are when asked who would win between the "Avengers" and the "X-Men". After clarifying that he is familiar with the MCU superhero team, he then states that it is a no contest. Furthermore, he points out that the "X-Men" can sort out the "Avengers" with just Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen and James Marsden.

While it may seem as an exaggeration, Movieweb is quick to point out the truth behind the claim. Magneto, Jean Grey and Cyclops, played by McKellen, Janssen and Marsden respectively, are known to be some of the strongest mutants in the "X-Men" universe and their powers alone could level the whole MCU "Avengers" team. It is unfortunate though that Wolverine would not be part of that dream matchup, as Hugh Jackman is hanging up the claws with the release of his last Wolverine movie "Logan".

With the recent move to share the character of "Spider-Man" between Sony Pictures and MCU, fans would wonder if the "X-Men vs Avengers" battle could ever occur. According to "Infinity War" director Joe Russo, no talks about the matter are being done, at least as far as he knows.

Aside from the "X-Men vs Avengers" comment, Stewart has revealed that the Charles Xavier that audiences would see in "Logan" would be very different from the cool and collective Professor X in the earlier films. Calling 'colorful' an understatement, he claims that the professor's vocabulary will come off as rude or offensive.

"Logan" claws up the big screen on March 2017.
