"Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 premiered last Jan. 6, 2017. It will consist of 13 episodes and will feature a whole new set of cast members, but this could spell doom for the TV show. Only a few characters are returning, which disappointed many fans. The series is already suffering through a decrease in viewer ratings, which could result in the cancellation of Season 5.

Many fans were disappointed that the "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 cast was mostly new. Viewers will still see Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Jenny Mills (Lyndie Greenwood), but most of the characters will be replaced by new ones. Janina Gavankar has joined the show as Agent Diana Thomas, who will partner with Ichabod to solve the supernatural mysteries.

Although the new characters add a new twist to the show, they might not be enough to give it a renewal. "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 had the lowest number of viewer ratings in the show's history, according to TV Line. Its number of viewers has decreased from 35 to 25 percent in the last few episodes. Last Feb. 6, it garnered its lowest ratings to date: 1.8 million with 0.5 demo rating.

It's not a good sign for a supernatural urban fantasy show. "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 has viewer ratings like Ryan Murphy's "Scream Queens", except the latter is targeting a younger demographic. Also, Fox has a lot of competing for regular shows with more viewers. "Sleepy Hollow" Season 5 can happen if the show gets an increase in viewers in the upcoming few episodes.

In the last "Sleepy Hollow" Season 4 episode "Loco Parentis", viewers got to see what Jenny Mills had been up to. Jenny had trapped a demon and worse, she made a deal with him. Making a bargain with a demon has never ended well for any character, so fans are speculating whether something bad will happen to Jenny.

According to ScreenerTV, Jenny might be the next member to leave "Sleepy Hollow" permanently. This might be the final straw for any loyal fan to give up on the show, which has such few original characters left.
