During this year's E3, Microsoft has shown a glimpse of Project Scorpio for 2017, a machine which is being endorsed by the Xbox boss Phil Spencer as one of the most powerful gaming console ever made.

Though Phil Spencer might turn out to be right on his part, Sony has recently jumped ahead in the game by releasing a 4K HDR console. In fact, this version of Sony's PS4 device is now available in the markets which puts Microsoft in a tangle as it plans to launch Scorpio next year. Time reported, XBOX Scorpio will have a graphic processor of 6 teraflops.

A quick comparison shows that both the devices will definitely offer 4K HDR gaming, though PS4 Pro is running it a year earlier than Microsoft. Xbox further claims that the graphics chip in the Scorpio
console will be not only capable of 4K resolutions, but at 60 frames per second to boot, which looks impossible for the PS4 Pro device.

The PS4 Pro has 4.20 tera flops of graphics processing power which looks a bit under powered on paper but it is quite capable of running games in 4K with HDR settings. Microsoft has furrther confirmed during
the E3 event that Project Scorpio will have an octa-core processor which matches the Sony PS4 Pro's octa-core CPU, the x86-64 "Jaguar", which runs at 2.1GHz. The PS4 Pro offers 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, which might get matched by the Scorpio version of Xbox, though there are no confirmed reports. According to DailyStar,  Microsoft has touted Xbox One Scorpion as the most powerful console of all time.

One of the major claims by Xbox during its E3 press event was about virtual reality. Though Sony already has its foot in the VR space with the amazing PSVR headset, Microsoft claims that it wil offer better running and working VR devices which will have high resolution as well. Microsoft might also end up making an ally out of Oculus for its VR dream which will greatly help it in making a better headset than PSVR.

With only PS4 in the market as of now, its almost impossible to make out the clear winner of the two devices. With Sony having a lead on this one, Microsoft might end up surprising everyone for good next
year as it knows what is out there to beat.
