'Criminal Minds' Season 12: Longer Prison Time For Reid As Life Behind Bars Arc Intensifies

Things are not looking up for Dr. Spencer Reid. Latest "Criminal Minds" Season 12 episode 15 spoilers suggest that the triple Ph.D. holder could be behind bars for quite a while and, to top it off, he could run into some trouble.

Reid, played by actor Matthew Gray Gubler, had a run of bad luck recently. Accused of murder in Mexico, the genius agent of FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) was locked behind bars. While fans were initially hopeful of a shortened jail time, "Criminal Minds" Season 12 spoilers suggest otherwise.

It looks like Gubler's character might have to cope with the harsh realities of prison life, something he might have a hard time adjusting to. Failing to secure the nod from the judge for a bail, things will get worse for Reid as he now gets targeted by a group of fellow inmates, as shown in the released "Criminal Minds" Season 12 episode 15 promo.

However, Reid will have an ally that will help him survive prison life. This ally is also a former FBI agent Calvin Shaw who was sent to prison for killing an informant. And it would be a lesson of survival that the genius BAU agent will sorely need. Despite being intellectually superior or perhaps because of it, Reid might rub some inmates the wrong way. At the moment, it is still unclear how long Spencer Reid will be staying behind bars.
