With all the hype on "Deadpool" and its sequel, it's expected that a lot of actors would like to join in on the fun. One of the highly-awaited characters in the franchise is Cable, but no final casting has been confirmed for the film yet.

Reports recently revealed that production for "Deadpool 2" has been delayed a bit, which means there's still time for casting. According to Movie Web, "Scandal" star Kerry Washington reportedly tested for the role of Domino.

Domino is a lethal mercenary who possesses mutant probability-altering powers. What's more interesting about the character is that she's known as a partner and lover of Cable, a character that's at the center of the "Deadpool 2" buzz.

So far, there has been no confirmed casting for the role of Cable, but a lot of actors have been rumored to be in talks with movie execs for the part. The latest candidate is Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe. The discussion about Crowe potentially playing Cable stemmed from the actor's Twitter conversation with Deadpool comic book creator Rob Liefeld, who advised Crowe to read for the role of Cable.

Based on their exchange, it appears that Crowe himself is interested to apply for the role. He even shared a mockup photo of him as Cable. In a tweet, Crowe said that if lead star Ryan Reynolds is interested in the idea of him playing Cable, he'll find a way to do it.

Crowe certainly fits the part of Cable, as he certainly has a strong, commanding presence akin to a military veteran like the character. He is also at the right age to play the part of the time-travelling mutant.

Crowe isn't the first heavy-hitter to be associated with the role of Cable. Early this year, "James Bond" actor Pierce Brosnan made headlines after he figured in a photo with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. It was unclear when the photo was taken, but many presumed they were discussing "Deadpool 2" business at the time.

Meanwhile, "Deadpool 2" is still in pre-production. "John Wick" director David Leitch has replaced Tim Miller to helm the upcoming movie.
