History has already ordered additional ten episodes for "Six" Season 2 from A+E Studios and Weinstein Television. Production for the network's breakout thriller's second season is also set to begin in the summertime.

The first season of the combat thriller only has eight episodes, the last of which is set to air on Mar. 8. But History had already sealed a deal for a "Six" Season 2 two weeks before the finale.

Deadline wrote that the History channel military drama is one show on TV that puts American heroes in the spotlight. It follows the footsteps of a similar show aired on USA Network titled "Shooter." That series is about a former Marine, while "Six" and its upcoming Season 2 will continue to focus on the lives and missions of elite Navy SEAL members.

Since it began airing on Jan. 18, the military drama has been receiving strong ratings. In fact, "Six" garnered a total of 2.9 million viewers for its first four weeks of being on air. Jana Bennett, History president, commented on the show's success. She said that it is captivating as well as relevant in the current time. Furthermore, TV Line reported that the president recognized how the show has connected with the audience. So it is not altogether surprising that the exciting military series is getting a Season 2.

History's "Six" Season 1 follows the story Navy SEAL Team Six. Members of the team are tasked to conduct the clandestine takedown of a dangerous Taliban leader located in Afghanistan. But their mission hits a snag when they discover that an American national is in cahoots with the terrorists. Furthermore, Richard 'Rip' Taggart finds himself in the hands of Boko Haram. His only hope of staying alive or getting away are his former teammates. So then his survival are in the hands of Joe Graves, Alex Caulder and Ricky 'Buddha' Ortiz. Will they manage to get him out alive? Only the finale, or Season 2, can tell.
