Justin Beiber Won "Male Artist Of The Year" While Selena Gomez Skipped Out The Music Awards

Justin Beiber and the Weeknd were up against each other for the title "Male Artist of the Year," during the 2017 iHeartRadio's Music Awards 2017. The 23-year-old singer Justin Beiber won the title "Male Artist of the Year" beating his love rival, The Weeknd.

Justin Beiber just couldn't take ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, dating his fellow Canadian, The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye). According to Mail Online, Justin Beiber thought it was 'awesome' beating the Weeknd on that award.

"To have beaten the Weeknd only makes things that much sweeter," the insider said. "Just one more thing he can put up against him."

However, the award didn't even air the announcement during the live broadcast of the show since neither Justin Beiber nor the Weeknd was in attendance. Other nominated artists that Justin Beiber beat out are his friend Drake, Shawn Mendes and Luke Bryan.

In addition, Justin also took home the award for Best Lyrics for "Love Yourself" which he worked on with Ed Sheeran. The co-writer and friend, Ed Sheeran accepted the trophy on behalf of Justin Bieber on the night of that music award.

On the other hand, The Weeknd, however, didn't come a long way empty-handed. Beating Beyonce, Rihanna, Usher and Bryson Tiller, he took home the "Best R&B Artist of the Year."

Meanwhile, ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez didn't go to the 2017 iHeartRadio's Music Award either. Selena Gomez was one of the nominated artists for Female Artist of the Year and Best Fan Army, however, the singer chose to spend her time with her family in Dallas and just skipped the show.

In fact, it was previously reported by Mstarnews that the singer was once spotted in Europe supporting his boyfriend, The Weeknd, on its concert tour. Since she was traveling a lot for the past few weeks promoting and performing her own songs, Selena indulged herself relaxing and chilling with her family.

The Weeknd and Selena Gomez started dating since the start of the year. She and Justin Bieber were an on-and- off couple for three years since 2011.
