When “Outlander” Season 3 returns, fans will get to see Laoghaire MacKenzie once again. Nell Hundson, who plays the character, teased in an interview that her character will be older and with two daughters. The actress further teased that Laoghaire will be returning emboldened by age and as a person who had been through a lot.

Laoghaire is not featured in the second book of the series by Diana Gabaldon from which the last season was based on according to The Celebrity Cafe. Her appearance in the previous season therefore surprised a lot of fans. Apparently, the character was already introduced then since she is included in the third book, “Voyager,” from which “ Outlander” Season 3 is based.

Laoghaire and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) did not get along initially last season but were able to patch things up. It was also revealed that Laoghaire still had feelings for Jamie (Sam Heughan). This will probably be explored more in “Outlander” Season 3 and how this could effect the two main characters’ storyline. The new season will center on Jamie and Claire’s journey to the Carribean using a ship called Artemis.

Meanwhile, Heughan and Balfe are helping fans get through the long wait before the “Outlander” premiere as much as they could. Recently, they graced the Emerald City Comicon (ECC) and talked about the upcoming season according to Fansided. Balfe teased that Claire believes that Jamie has died and she does what any mother would do. She did everything to survive.

Balfe added that Jamie and Claire’s separation will be important in the growth of their characters in “Outlander” Season 3. Living without each other would play an important part of who they become later on. Filming is still ongoing in South Africa. In fact, after their appearance at the ECC, the two actors headed to film more scenes.

Heughan confirmed that filming is expected to be finished by June 2017. The cast and crew will then take a well deserved time off. The actor also revealed that producers have already begun scouting for possible locations for next season. “Outlander” Season 3 will premiere on fall of 2017 on Starz.
