As one of the longest running comedy shows on CBS, "The Big Bang Theory", has managed to attract a cult following of its own. So naturally, the producers want to capitalize on the opportunity and launch a follow-up spinoff of the series.

However, unlike most spinoffs, which either focus extensively on a particular subplot or tend to become sort of a sequel, the "The Big Bang Theory" theory spinoff will be more of a prequel instead. It will revolve around a young 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper and how much of an oddball he was during his childhood, Hypable reports.

"The spinoff will follow 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, played by newcomer Iain Armitage, as the child prodigy navigates his young life in east Texas," announced CBS in a statement, CNET reports. Even the shoes of Jim Parson, the actor who brought the Sheldon Cooper to life in the original show, will be difficult to fill in the "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff if anyone can do it, it's Iain Armitage.

This will not be the first time that little Armitage faces the camera. When he was just 4 years old, he started his own YouTube channel where he delivers reviews of shows such as "Pippin", "Hairspray", "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", "Gypsy, Rocky" and much more. His channel currently has 5000 subscribers and is fated to grow when he joins "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff.

Armitage also has had acting experience in TV shows. He recently appeared in HBO's "Big Little Lies" with Reese Witherspoon. He also has a role in a movie lined up, called "The Glass Castle". With such impressive achievements at a young, it is not difficult to see why he was selected to play Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory" spinoff.

"The Big Bang Theory" spinoff will be co-produced by Jim Parsons. Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro, producers of the original show will also act as executive producers on the spinoff. It will start filming in the 2017-2018 season.
