Illegal immigration is one of the hot new themes in "American Crime" Season 3. The award-winning series revolves around illegal immigrants working on a farm. Another story arc centers around prostitution and sex trafficking. It premiered with a lower number of views, however. Joining the new season, meanwhile, is "Grey's Anatomy" star Sandra Oh.

Many viewers are claiming that "American Crime" Season 3 is the series' best season. However, the latest season opened with a low rating, just at 2.7 million, down a few counts from Season 2's 3.7 million, according to TV Line. The opening is slow to establish the main characters' lives and struggles, but the themes of illegal immigration, drug addiction, and prostitution make this season just as harrowing as the previous ones.

The "American Crime" Season 3 plot revolves around several story arcs. The Hesby family is struggling to handle their farm after the father gets sick. Cherry Jones, Tim DeKay and Dallas Roberts are Laurie Ann, JD and Carson Hesby. Cherry Jones ("24") Dallas Roberts ("The Good Wife") are a new addition to the show in recurring roles.

Benito Martinez is one of the headliners for "American Crime" Season 3. He plays Luis Salazar, an illegal immigrant worker from Mexico who came to North Carolina to find his son. Ana Mulvoy-Ten stars as Shae, a teenage prostitute. The recent season will also touch upon modern slavery and the poor conditions that employers put their undocumented workers through.

There's also the story with Regina King's Kimara Walters, a social worker trying to do her job while handling her personal life. Sandra Oh ("Grey's Anatomy") returns to the small screen as Abby Tanaka, who runs a local shelter, but is having trouble helping others due to limited resources. King told the Times Colonist that this season was timely "as far as the presidential climate is concerned."

Created by John Ridley, the drama series is an anthology of stories per season, much like Ryan Murphy's "American Horror Story". Since it began in 2015, the series has received ten Primetime Emmy Award nominations. "American Crime" Season 3 Episode 2 will air on March 19 on ABC.
