The Benny Boom-helmed biopic is certainly getting all eyes to focus on it, especially with the new trailer out. Named after the influential rapper's fourth and final studio album, "All Eyez on me" tells the journey of Lesane Parish Cooks, more popularly known as Tupac Amaru Shakur.

Several shots from the movie are seen in the trailer, with the voice of Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur, played by Danai Gurira, speaking some idealistic thoughts to the young Tupac. Being an activist and a member of the revolutionary group Black Panther Army, Afeni warns her son on the dangers of being an African-American living in America, while quoting a line from Shakespeare's "Hamlet," according to Screen Rant.

Scenes of Tupac's rival, Biggie Smalls a.k.a. Notorious B.I.G., were also shown, with Jamal Woolard playing as Smalls. Capping the minute-long trailer shows how Tupac meets his tragic end in Las Vegas on September 1996, MovieWeb reported.

A dominant force in the hip hop scene during the 90's, Tupac, also known by the stage names 2Pac, Pac, and Makaveli, started rapping during his time at the Baltimore School for the Arts. After moving to California in 1988, he became part of the hip-hop group Digital Underground, where he was first heard by the mainstream crowd on the 1991 "Nothing but Trouble" soundtrack "Same Song."

Part of what made Tupac famous was his poetic lyrics, which could also be interpreted as political messages. His first album, "2Pacalypse Now," has been considered as a major influence for several rappers after his time, like Nas and Eminem, despite not being commercially successful. "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z..." and "Me Against the World" performed better commercially, with the latter being called his magnum opus.

Tupac will be played by Demetrius Shipp, Jr on "All Eyez on Me," which follows the life and death of the rapper. The movie is scheduled for a June 16, 2017 release, coinciding with the Tupac's 46th birthday.
