Richard Madden, best known for his role of Robb Stark, the King of the North on HBO's Game of Thrones, has officially signed on to the Kenneth Branagh-directed, live-action adaptation of Cinderella. Madden joins Lily James, who will portray the title character, and Academy Award-winner Cate Blanchett, who will be the wicked stepmother. Madden was rumored to be up for the role of the prince in this new project back in April, but now he has been officially confirmed.

As the King of the North on Game of Thrones, we have seen a lot of Madden's character Robb Stark in season three as he rages his war against the Lannisters. Perhaps his experience playing the rough and tumble yet loyal King will show in his performance as the Prince in Cinderella?

How do you feel about this casting news for the new Cinderella movie? Do you think that Madden can be a good prince charming opposite Lily James?

Mstarz recently reported on the lead roll in this new Cinderella movie going to Lily James. Here is an excerpt:

"Lily James, who portrayed Lady Rose McClare in season 3 of "Downton Abbey," was just cast as the lead in the live-action, re-imagination of the iconic Disney classic Cinderella. This role was originally rumored to belong to Emma Watson, but it looks like James has it now. Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett, who will portray the evil stepmother to James' Cinderella, joins the relatively unknown 24-year-old actress. Kenneth Branagh will direct the reboot.

"Cinderella was first brought up as a project in the wake of the success of the Alice in Wonderland live-action movie starring Johnny Depp and directed by Tim Burton. Mia Wasikowska starred as Alice and has since gone on to numerous leading roles. Perhaps the same fortune will fall on James if Cinderella garners success."
