In recent years, more and more fairytale princesses are making their way back to cinemas. Although most of these movies are under the same Disney umbrella, their stories are not at all connected to each other. There are reports, however, of plans to bring all the fairytale princesses in one Avengers-like ensemble.

An upcoming movie titled "Princesses" is currently in the works, and is said to be about an Avengers-esque team of princesses from fairytales. Long gone are fairytale clichés about damsels in distresses getting swooned by Prince Charming. This time around, the princesses are on the front line of the fight.

According to Tracking Board (via ScreenRant), "Princesses" will be directed by Joachim Rønning, the co-director of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." The movie is still searching for a studio to produce the movie. One of the studios being considered is Disney. Digital Spy reported that the movie will be based on a script written by Nir Paniry.

Crossovers and superhero ensembles are a big trend right now in television and film, which makes it the perfect time for a movie like "Princesses" to make its way to the big screen. Moreover, there's a huge demand for female-drive movies and women taking on strong lead roles, and "Princesses" is definitely right up that alley and more.

"Princesses" are going to feature characters that will be familiar to Disney fans, but fall in the public domain so there wouldn't be any issues with respect to copyright. Thus, it's highly possible the movie would include Snow White, Cinderella and Jasmine. If ever Disney doesn't pick up "Princesses," it is likely Elsa and Anna from "Frozen" and Moana would not be able to join the team.

The "Princesses" project would also be an interesting move for Disney as it combines both the magic of Disney with the action-heavy performance of Marvel.

Meanwhile, Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" is currently taking the world by storm. The movie is currently at the top of major box office listing all across the globe and is breaking several records.
