‘Criminal Minds’ Renewal Likely To Happen; CBS, ABC Studios Working Out Details

"Criminal Minds" is likely going to get another season given the history of the show's renewal. Fans are hopeful that CBS will come up with an agreement with ABC Studios not to cancel the show after Season 12.

CBS recently gave the green light for a renewal to several of its shows including "Hawaii Five-O," "Blue Bloods" and NCIS: Los Angeles," to name a few. However, "Criminal Minds" is not on the list. This led fans to worry about the show's fate since the network did not announce it for renewal. This spurred speculations that perhaps the show is up for cancellation after Season 12.

However, according to TV by the Numbers, there is still a good chance that "Criminal Minds" also gets another season. After all, this is not the first time that the show missed the cut for early renewal. CBS also delayed the confirmation on the renewal last year after Season 11. The network did not outright pick up the show for another go, but Season 12 eventually happened.

It is likely that CBS is still working out details with its partner and leading network ABC Studios. According to Deadline, the executives are perhaps still mulling over costing and other contract deals. It is believed that the network may have to let go of some of the show's casts to achieve proper costing if the renewal does happen.

Regardless, the publication is optimistic that "Criminal Minds" will get a renewal. It is supposedly likely that CBS and ABC Studios are already working out a deal that would benefit both networks.

It should be noted that the high viewership also helps "Criminal Minds" get a renewal after Season 12. The show still gets over 10 million for the Live and Same Day views. It reportedly still ranks as the third highest watched show on CBS for a non-sports program.
