RGIII to Marry Rebecca Liddicoat [PHOTOS]: Redskins Star to Tie Knot with College Sweetheart July 6? Fun Facts about Quarterback and Fiancee [VIDEO]

Reports confirm that Washington Redskins superstar Robert Griffin III (better-known as RGIII) is set to marry fiancee Rebecca Liddicoat sometime this summer (specifically, July 6). RGIII proposed to his college sweetheart in 2010 with a candlelite dinner and self-penned love song. The popular quarterback's mom Jackie Griffin recently sat down for an interview with Fox and she accidentally "spilled the beans" that her son would be marrying Liddicoat in just a few months. RGIII and Liddicoat met and began dating while they both were students at Baylor University (where Griffin won the Heisman Trophy in 2011). The adorable couple got engaged back in 2010 after a big win over Kansas State. Griffin told Liddicoat to meet him at Baylor University's indoor football practice facility after the game - he brought candles and his father brought the ring. RGIII explained to the Star Telegram following the special night, "I had one of my teammates playing the guitar, so I talked to her and serenaded her... I walked into the middle where her family was standing with candles and I popped the question. I couldn't see her face to see her crying, because it was so dark. But when I kissed her I felt the wetness on her cheeks.''

The two did not set a wedding date... until now, apparently. Following the telling Mother's Day interview with RGIII's mom, the Washington Post investigated and discovered an online registry that appears to belong to RGIII and Liddicoat - it looks like they're set to tie the knot in Virginia on July 6. A Bed Bath and Beyond registry listed for Griffin and Liddicoat for a July 6 wedding also confirms this.

As RGIII's mom explains, “She doesn’t see him as African American; she sees him as a man... He doesn’t see her as a Caucasian woman; he sees her as a woman.”

Griffin was selected by the Redskins in the second pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. He also won the Associated Press "2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award."
