Prince William Recruits Lady Gaga in Mental Health Campaign; Prince Harry Admits Mental Issues

Prince William found a new partner in promoting mental health awareness campaign in the person of Lady Gaga. Along with his wife Kate Middleton and brother Prince Harry, they have spearheaded a campaign called Heads Together. It hopes to remove the stigma that usually surrounds mental health. It now looks like they are getting celebrities to help them in their cause.

In a video released in the royal family’s official Facebook page, Prince William and Lady Gaga could be seen making a video call. The prince commended the pop star on her open letter about her experience with post-traumatic stress according to Entertainment Tonight. The “Born This Way” singer admitted that she felt ashamed to admit her mental health issues for the longest time. She went on to say that she would often wake up feeling both tired and sad as a result.

For his part, Prince William candidly admitted that the reason he is so passionate about mental health today is because of what happened to him and Princess Diana. He says that he is still in shock over his mother’s sudden death even after nearly twenty years. The prince said that one never gets over the shock and must learn to deal with it.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry earlier opened up about struggling to process his grief for years following the tragic loss of Princess Diana. He realized that he in fact never truly processed his grief until much later on in his life reports People. He said it was actually twenty years of not thinking about it at all and then two years of total chaos. The younger prince acknowledge that Prince William gave him huge support and told him to talk about what he was going through with someone.

Big brother Prince William supported Prince Harry’s brave admission of his mental anguish and blames the monarchy’s tradition of “stiff upper lip” for it. He spoke against the royals’ tendency to keeping their emotions in check. He said that although there may be a proper time for it, it should never be at the expense of one’s health.
