Speculations are rife that Selena Gomez sang about missing ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber in her new song "Bad Liar." However, the song's co-writer Justin Tranter hinted that the music is actually about her current beau The Weeknd.

Gossip Cop blasted rumors that claimed Selena Gomez dedicated "Bad Liar" to Justin Bieber. The music supposedly talks about a girl who has trouble moving on from a failed relationship. This woman is supposedly trying hard not to think about the relationship or the man involved. Tabloid reports suspected that the "Hands to Myself" singer poured her heart out in the new song, because she still misses her ex.

However, there is no truth to this speculation. "Bad Liar" is not about Justin Bieber or about Selena Gomez missing her ex. Instead, the song speaks of Selena's feelings for The Weeknd. Tranter said the lyrics in the song are a hint already as to whom the song is about.

Tranter clarified that the song is not about Justin Bieber. He asked fans to listen closely to the lyrics, since it is very telling of whom Selena Gomez dedicated the song to. "You got some of the lyrics wrong, and it's actually about trying to hide magic feelings for someone new, but not being able to," Tranter wrote on Twitter.

Likewise, Tranter told Variety that the lyrics in "Bad Liar" are descriptive of new love. "The lyrics are really cool and descriptive about when you first start having feelings for someone, but don't want to admit it, which turns you into a Bad Liar," he said.

"Someone new" clearly refers to The Weeknd. After all, he and Selena Gomez only recently became a couple. According to the publication, "Bad Liar" is actually about Selena pinning for the "Starboy" singer even when he was still dating Bella Hadid.
