‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 14 Casts Update: Justin Chambers, Kevin McKidd Return Unconfirmed

ABC has yet to announce who among the original casts are returning for "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14. According to reports, Justin Chambers and Kevin McKidd, among others, have yet to sign a contract to appear in the installment.

Chambers, who plays Alex Karev and McKidd, who portrays Owen Hunt, have yet to formally confirm their return in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14. According to Bustle, the actors' contract only allows them to appear through the end of Season 13.

Any news about their return to the show is pending until the summer, according to the publication. This is supposedly when negotiations for "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 officially start. Fans will have to keep their fingers crossed that Chambers and McKidd return to the series.

However, it is likely that Chambers and McKidd are returning for "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14, given the development in their character's story in the Season 13 finale. To recap, Owen found out that his missing sister Megan, whom he thought is already dead, is actually alive. The finale also hinted at a developing romance between Owen and Amelia.

Meanwhile, Alex has yet to confront Jo's husband. He has yet to fight for his feelings for Jo. It is likely that another meeting occurs between the men in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14. Likewise, Chambers is one of the original casts in the series (having appeared since 2005). It would make no sense to take him out now given the progress in his character's storyline.

Among the other casts in the series who have yet to sign their contract for "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 are James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) and Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey). As for Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie Edwards), she is not returning for the installment following her character's exit. According to Variety, Edwards' exit coincides with Hinton's decision to leave the show for a role in the still-untitled HBO drama from "True Blood" writer Alan Ball.

Meanwhile, Ellen Pompeo will continue to play Meredith in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14. After all, the show revolves around her character's story. The series also continues as long as Pompeo is in it and Meredith's story has not yet ended.
