Fans of "Game of Thrones" are happy about the news of prequels on the way. However, those waiting for "The Winds of Winter" are less pleased. A new rumor suggests that the highly anticipated novel will not arrive until after the "GoT" spin-offs are completed.

Earlier last month, George R.R. Martin spoke about the highly anticipated prequels. According to Entertainment Weekly, the author clarified that the upcoming "GoT" shows are not spin-offs. Instead, they are prequels that will not show any characters from the current series. He did not mention anything about "The Winds of Winter."

Aside from this, Martin made a big reveal. Instead of four "Game of Thrones" prequels, there are five. Previously, HBO announced that there are four. "The Winds of Winter" appears to have been lost in between the upcoming shows.

As previously reported, George R.R. Martin is going to work closely with the producers of the upcoming "GoT" prequels. This means he will be very busy in the next couple of years. This has then raised speculation that "The Winds of Winter" won't be released anytime soon.

It is further speculated that "The Winds of Winter" will not be in bookshelves until after Martin completes the scripts for the "GoT" prequels. This rumor is getting more fans of "A Song of Ice and Fire" devastated. After all, "TWOW" has been delayed for a couple of years already.

Another bit of information that fans may want to know about the "Game of Thrones" prequels involves "Dunk & Egg." Apparently, George R.R. Martin is not planning to involve the "Dunk & Egg" tales into the new set of shows. As Martin works on the "GoT" universe, "The Winds of Winter" fans are left in limbo.

Blasting News suggests that Martin may be delaying "The Winds of Winter" on purpose. This could be because he is now more focused on "GoT." It remains to be seen if the aging author will respond to the speculations to clarify the reports.
