Essential Phone To Get The New Android Oreo Update In A Couple Of Months

The newly founded technology company and manufacturer, Essential Products or just Essential is just two years old and it is already announcing that its first smartphone called Essential Phone will have Android's latest update, the Oreo. Essential Products is a company based in Palo Alto by founder Andy Rubin from his sponsor Playground Global, Brian Wallace of Magic Leap makes a big turn from being its chief marketing officer to being Rubin's staff. The Essential Phone was revealed at the start of 2017 but as of August 2017, reported investments for Essential Phone was made by Amazon, Tencent, and Foxconn.

In a report from TechCrunch, the Essential Phone will receive the latest update of Android 8.0 as the company commits to provide the latest Google update in regards to its major software updates. Andy Rubin made an unofficial announcement through social media that the company's flagship smartphone will get the latest Android update under the name Oreo. Despite the final release of Android 8.0 or Oreo as the latest Android update last August 21, 2017, the Essential founder did not elaborate further the specifics of his announcement, especially the release date.

Furthermore, Guiding Tech also reports that executives of Essential have already given hints of waiting time from "a couple of months" to "next month or two." Everybody is just as excited to hear this especially to attract new Essential Phone users as well as a good marketing strategy given that other companies have already embraced Android Oreo update. Some of them were, Google's partner Nexus and Pixel devices and other companies like HTC, Motorola, OnePlus, and Nokia.

Android 8.0 or Android Oreo is the 8th major version of the Android mobile operating system and has some distinct features like snoozed notifications which can be batched to "channels." Android Oreo also supports picture-in-picture modes and simplified ringtones, alarms, and notifications. Other features include new settings design, a faster startup from power-off state and optimized battery life.
