Lecrae, contemporary Christian hip-hop artist, was recently nominated for Top Christian Album in the 2013 Billboard Music Awards for his latest album, 'Gravity.'

'Gravity,' which was released in 2012, marked Lecrae's sixth studio album and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts, according to Breathcaste.  It sold over 72,000 units in the first week as well, which made it the biggest sales week in history for a Christian hip-hop album.

The album won a Grammy, in Los Angeles, California, earlier this year and now it is adding another possible win to its list with the 2013 Billboard Music Award nomination, according to Rapzilla.  It won the Grammy under the category of Best Gospel Album of 2013, Breathcaste reports.  "My ambition was just to make honest music, and I really was not intending for it to be a traditional gospel music album or anything. I was just very honest about my spirituality", stated Lecrae after having won the award.

'Gravity' is said to have been Lecrae's most influential and critically acclaimed record so far, according to Breathecaste.  In addition to being a Christian hip-hop artist, Lecrae Moore is also a ministry leader, entrepreneur, and actor, according to Elevate Christian Network.  He is the president and co-founder of both Reach Records and non-profit organization called ReachLife Ministries.  He has received two Grammy Award nominations, seven Dove Award nominations, three Stellar Award nominations and the award for Best Hip-Hop Music Video from the GMC Music Video Awards in 2010, in addition to his recent Billboard nomination.

Other nominees for Billboard's 2013 Top Christian Album include Casting Crowns 'Come to the Well,' MercyMe 'The Hurt & the Healer,' tobyMac 'Eye on It,' and various other artists from the 'WOW 2013 Hits' record, according to Rapzilla.  The 2013 Billboard Music Awards are set to air on Sunday, May 19th on ABC at 8/7PM CST.

Lecrae has just finished his headlining "Higher Learning" tour on March 10, during which he tried to engage college students with the Gospel message and salvation through Jesus Christ with the help of hip-hop music, spoken word, and comedy, Breathcaste reports.  His next tour will be the "Inspirational Gospel Celebration" tour that is set to begin on May 9 and run until August 31.

The tour will bring the best in traditional and contemporary Gospel music to fans through a free concert series featuring names like Tamela Mann, John P. Kee, and Smokie Norful, according to Breathecast.  The tour will be hosted by McDonald's. "Through this series of Gospel concerts, McDonalds celebrates the rich musical heritage of the African American community by delivering an inspirational evening of music to local communities." Tanya Holliday, owner and operator of McDonalds, stated.

Lecrae is also expected to be featured at multiple festivals throughout the year including the 'Alive Festival,' 'Life 2013,' and 'Rock The Desert Festival,' Breathecast reports.
