Nicole Kidman On Her Upcoming Indie Thriller 'Destroyer' By Karyn Kusama

Nicole Kidman will have her first team up with director Karyn Kusama for their upcoming crime thriller titled "Destroyer", which is another from her forte of stories. "Destroyer" will follow the storyline of the 2015 horror film "The Invitation" which is one of Karyn Kusama's stories she calls the "L.A Trilogy." Karyn Kusama, an independent film director is known for her 2000 movie "Girlfight" where it won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.

After bringing home an Emmy award for her role in HBO's "Big Little Lies", Deadline reports that Nicole Kidman is currently doing SundanceTV's "Top of the Lake: China Girl" and has four movies in line for 2017, "How to Talk to Girls at Parties", "The Killing of a Sacred Deer", "The Beguiled" and "The Upside." Nicole Kidman will take the role of Erin Bell, a LAPD Detective who went undercover to a cult in the California desert, unfortunately, being a young and inexperienced officer, she was placed in some terrible situations. As Erin Bell unfolds the mysteries of her past, the cult leader will appear, hindering her to locate the remaining members of the cult and connects it all to her disturbing past.

The "Destroyer" will be written by "Ride Along" and Kusama's husband, Phil Hay and writing partner Matt Manfredi along with Fred Berger in producing the film. In a report from Vulture Karyn Kusama considers this film to be a dark story but is more of a spiritual sequel than a literal one as it will not be a part two of her film "The Invitation". Karyn Kusama emphasized it to be a different story despite it being written by the same writers of "The Invitation."

Nicole Kidman is the best choice for the role of Erin Bell and Karyn Kusama is as ecstatic to work with her and how Kidman will do when the shooting starts. Rocket Science is handling international sales and helped arrange the financing with 30West, while ICM Partners and CAA are representing the North American rights to the film.
