Cool it, everybody. Apparently, Jaden Smith is not asking for emancipation from his parents, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Essentially, Jaden is playing it smart and sticking by parents who like to buy their kids film and music careers. He said as much on Ellen.

"I'm not going anywhere," Jaden said. "I can get anything and everything that I want at [Will's] house, so I think I'm going to be there for 20, 30 more years."

"[Will] says as soon as I have a movie that's bigger than one of his movies I can get my own house," he added.

Will Smith says the emancipation rumors came from a big misunderstanding of a joke he made overseas.

"I think I made a joke in Tokyo," said Will. "No, no emancipation for the Smith kids."

The rumors began after an interview Will gave to promote After Earth, a movie that stars Will and Jaden. When asked what his son wants for his birthday, Will replied

"He says, 'Dad, I want to be emancipated.' I know if we do this, he can be an emancipated minor, because he really wants to have his own place.'"

"That's the backlash, Will continued. "On the other side, if kids just want to have command of their lives, I understand."
