Rihanna Goes Out To A Low-key Dinner Instead Of Attending The Billboard Music Awards, During Which She Won Four Awards

Instead of spending Sunday evening in Las Vegas for the Billboard Music Awards, during which she received an impressive four awards, Rihanna decided to spend the night having a low key dinner in Santa Monica, California.

Rihanna was seen leaving G. Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica smiling on Sunday night while the awards were in session, according to Hollywood Life.  She had been nominated for 10 awards and ended up winning four of them.

She swept the R & B category winning the award for Top R & B Artist, Top R & B Album ('Unapologetic'), Top R & B Song ('Diamonds') and, to mix it up a bit, Top Radio Song Artist, according to Billboard.com. She ultimately tied for second most awards of the night alongside Goyte.  Above all others, however, reigned Taylor Swift, who took home an incredible eight awards.

For her evening dinner date, Rihanna looked low-key stylish in a pair of skin-tight blue skinny jeans, a loose-fitting grey sweater an a pair of peach and gold stiletto heels by Christian Louboutin, Daily Mail reports.  She accessorized with a stylish peach leather clutch, a red floral necklace and a swipe of scarlet lipstick.

It was originally thought that Rihanna was going to miss the awards due to tour commitments, however, she is not actually due to head to Europe until May 24, according to Hollywood Life.  The publication suggests that perhaps Rihanna missed the awards in order to avoid her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, after their recent split.Brown was nominated for several awards and he was set to perform his hit song, "Fine China," at the ceremony.

However, Rihanna later tweeted an apology to her fans for not showing up at the awards, Hollywood Life reports.  "Thank you #BILLBOARD for showing my fans the love they deserve!!! I'm truly grateful for these 4 awards that you've rewarded us! Thank you again!!" she tweeted on May 19.  She also promised her fans that she would be at the ceremony next year, according to Daily Mail.
