While Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories has been in stores for a week now (and it's masterful, pre-launch buzz-building campaign has been viewed, dissected and praised), it appears the robots have a few more promotional tricks up their sleeves. Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter made a rare in-the-helmet appearance at Le Grand Prix de Monaco as part of a cross-promotional deal between the Lotus Formula One team and Columbia Records. One of the Lotus team cars even raced with a Daft Punk Logo on the hood.

The team also produced several videos about the partnership:

In spite of a flurry of hastagged well wishes from Lotus F1's Twitter, driver Romain Grosjean did not get lucky in Monaco. Grosjean was forced to quit the race after being involved in a collision on his 63rd lap.

Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories has broken numerous digital records since its May 21 release. The duo's first studio album in eight years was met with rabid attention from fans, though the group appears to have no plans to capitilize on this with a tour.
