Natalie Grant's new single, 'Hurricane,' which was released on June 4, has experienced great success since its debut and has even managed to hit No.1 on iTunes, just one day after it was released.
This morning Grant posted a picture of the song topping the iTunes list and tweeted, "Woke up to texts from my friends and peers, telling me #Hurricane is #1 on iTunes. I love the support in this industry. It's beautiful."
And she has received a great deal of support on her new single from fans and fellow artists alike. Other Christian musicians like Hawk Nelson, Mandisa, Kari Jobe, MercyMe, and even Building 429, who debuted a new album of their own yesterday as well, have taken to twitter in support of Grant's new song.
Grant appeared at the K-Love Fan Awards this weekend with a nomination for Female Artist of the Year. Although she did not end up receiving the award, she expressed support for her fellow artist, Kari Jobe, after she had won. On June 1, Granted tweeted, " Yay! Congrats to my sweet friend @karijobe on winning Female Artist." The two women performed together during the award ceremony.
'Hurricane,' is a song with a very positive message about God's presence and love overcoming the hardship that we face in our lives. During an interview before the K-Love Fan Awards, Grant explained her newly adopted positive attitude. "I wish I could say that I love [my life] every day, I don't but, I think I'm not a big, 'oh the power of positive thinking,' kind of chick, but at the same time I think it is so easy to talk about the things that we don't like. There's a song out right now called 'Words,' by Hawk Nelson, and I heard that song and it convicted me so greatly of all the negative things that constantly come out of my mouth and there is so much power in what we say," she said.
Grant went on to say, "Life is a gift and I think if we could just, even for a brief moment, stop and reflect on the gift of our life, it makes the hardship of our life, not go away, I mean I wish it did but it doesn't, the hardship is still there, the junk is still there, but maybe it helps the sun to shine a little bit in the middle of the clouds."
And how could she not have a positive outlook when her new single is experiencing such great success?
What I like about Natalie Grant is that she seems so genuine and true to herself. What do you think of her new song?
