Brian Williams, the host of "NBC News," has proven to be humorous at times during his stops along the talk show circuit. Still, he was probably one of the last people Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg expected to see covering their 1992 hit "Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang" during "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."

That's a little bit of a stretch. In reality, some clever editors over at "Late Night" decided to cut brief clips of Williams saying individual words, form the hook to the hit single when strung together. Add those clips over a sample of the original song's laid back beat, and the video sounds (if not looks) like Williams himself is straight out of Compton.

Those hoping to hear the news anchor utter less savory lines such as "symbolizes dope, take a toke" will be disappointed, as none of the verses from the song are featured. In the video's highlight, the clip ends with an extended pause where Williams "mean-mugs" the camera.

The anchor was a guest on a last night's show, but he didn't do any rapping himself, with Dre or with Fallon's house band, The Roots.

"Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang" was the lead single on Dr. Dre's debut solo album, "The Chronic," in 1992 and has become a pop culture staple through outlets other than "Late Night." Aside from being sampled in various other hip-hop tracks, the song has made appearances in the "Grand Theft Auto" video game series and on a Funny or Die skit titled "Nuthin' But a Glee Thang."

Williams will probably stick to his seat in the newsroom for the time being, but E! entertainment has a nickname ready for him when releases an album: B. Wills.
